This NEWEST 8 GB iPod touch was released in September 2009 and comes installed with iPhone OS 3.1 Software. Frequently, this model is incorrectly referred to as the 3rd generation 8 GB iPod touch. It physically looks identical to the 8 GB iPod touch released in September 2008; however, the 2008 model does not include iPhone OS 3.1 software and requires users to download it from Apple.com for a fee.
